Software Development Engineer
About the role
The SPB Agent platform is the AI reasoning layer behind Amazon Ads — powering agentic experiences that autonomously guide millions of advertisers, sellers, and sales teams with personalized, data-backed intelligence across the Ads Console, Seller Central, and Next Gen Selling. You'll design and deliver generative AI systems that reason over campaign performance, make autonomous decisions on behalf of sellers, and deliver hyper-personalized advertising guidance at massive scale.
Experiences powered by the platform include AI Campaign Overview (a dynamic widget that adapts its narrative in real time based on performance data), AI Companion for Selling Partners (a personalized assistant that provides guidance and executes actions on behalf of sellers), and AI for Sales Teams (an intelligent copilot grounded in each advertiser's objectives and guardrails). You'll work at the intersection of large language models, distributed systems, and advertising — collaborating with AI researchers and engineers to shape how businesses connect with customers through AI.
What Makes This Role Stand Out
- The AI is the product — you're not adding AI to an existing tool; you're building the reasoning platform that powers multiple agentic products across Amazon Ads
- Ships to millions — advertisers, sellers, and sales teams worldwide interact with the experiences your platform powers
- Frontier AI stack — LLMs, agent-based architectures, autonomous decision-making, real-time personalization at massive scale
- Greenfield agentic architecture — designing how AI agents reason, act, and explain themselves in an advertising context
Key job responsibilities
- Design and develop the SPB Agent platform — a secure, reusable, low-latency architecture that integrates generative AI/ML technologies to deliver consistent, well-reasoned advertiser guidance across multiple products
- Deliver features end to end across the agentic AI stack, from LLM integration and prompt engineering to distributed serving infrastructure and real-time personalization
- Optimize operational costs at scale through efficient resource utilization, token consumption management, and memory footprint reduction
- Collaborate with AI researchers, scientists, and cross-functional teams to integrate AI-driven solutions across the Ads Console, Seller Central, and sales tools
- Build scalable systems that process millions of data points to deliver hyper-personalized advertising experiences with low latency
- Develop new approaches to conversational AI and natural language interactions in advertising contexts, translating research into production-quality features
- Mentor peers through design reviews and code reviews, contributing to engineering quality as the platform scales
